      I tried to fix it by editing the file steam_emu.ini but there was no success, however whoever has the original game by steam is able to solve by activating control by Big Pictirure

      you guys could try using joytokey. it worked for me but i am experiencing some crashing. will play for a little longer to se if happen again. maybe it is just the port that is fucked up…

    Temp solution for the gamepad problem. Inside is controller emulator program + a preset profile made by me. Just unzip it start it up go to profile and press + and import then select the SAO_HR file and you can start playing. it works fairly well but you can make adjustments as you need them as you will still need a keyboard.

    just wanted to help.

      There likely won’t be anything for a while but I got something I can share I have used it so far for an hour in game and it works more or less. Its no where near as good as a natural controller support but it helps alot. I tried sharing it on here but it says the mods need to review my post but that was 2 hours ago

      are the keyboard and mouse controls any good though? Accel world vs Sword Art online had horrendous nearly unplayable keyboard and mouse controls

    if you are using DS3 you have to use somethng like scptoolkit to fool windows thinking it as 360 controller.. add SAO to ur steam as non steam game. go to big picture mode, settings –> controller settings –> tick xbox controller config restart steam. in the steam library right click on game and configure the controller. browse the templates and find SAO HR TRY. apply configs. restart steam. run SAO HR from big picture mode-. this made my PS3 controller work on this torrent game perfectly (make sure big picture overlay is used in non steam games too in settings). you will still see only windows keys on guides etc but only need keyboard for button G (in battle if you want to encourage your party memebers)

    i managed to make my controller work using big picture configuration for controller.
    First i added the game to steam library as a “non-steam game”.
    Second i configured my controller in steam, this is very important, i activated all controller support options inside big picture options and in the game too.
    the final part was the most difficult, i went to the game options inside big picture mode and clicked on controller configuration and then searched for the wasd configuration (there is the button below in the controller configuration window), next i started to assign every button of the controller to the buttons of the keyboard.
    once i started the game a lot buttons in my controller were wrong so i had to go to button settings inside the game and assign the buttons to their actions as well.
    This is how i managed to make my xbox 360 controller work somehow inside the game but it’s very far from a native support, i hope this will help who wants to play this game with a controller.
    I hope they will fix this problem very soon because it’s really a pain in the ass.

      don’t worry about the fact that the game is cracked, you can use big picture configuration for this game even if it’s cracked adding it as a non-steam game to your steam library

      Io ho scritto il metodo che ho usato per risolvere temporaneamente il problema del controller nel frattempo che rilasciano un fix.
      L’ho scritto in inglese in modo che lo possano leggere tutti, non dovresti avere problemi a seguirla.
      Appena ho un minuto pubblico anche degli screenshots per aiutare a capire meglio la procedura

          Non proprio tutto comunque nella pagina di configurazione del controller in big picture se premi su sfoglia puoi trovare delle configurazioni create da altri utenti dove sembra che praticamente tutto funzioni tramite joypad.
          Nella mia configurazione ho cercato di avvicinarmi il più possibile al dettaglio del controller su PS4

    i added to non steam game, and config on big picture, with xbox one pad, and dosent works, i follow instrucctions of any others and nothing works for me, cant play with gamepad, hope some update fix or any solution

      I was equal and I got it in the following way. In big screen, leave the control settings in the game in the following way, as in the picture.

      Yo estaba igual que tu y lo conseguí de la siguiente manera. En Steam modo Big Screen deja la configuración de mando como en las pantallas que subí.

      Luego, para configurar el mando dentro del juego busca la configuración de Squar7 “pad sword art online” dentro de “configuraciones de la comunidad” e importala y aplicala.

      Ya en la biblioteca de juegos de Steam, debes tener agregado como juego no steam Sword Art Online. Abrelo desde ahi y podrás jugar correctamente aunque sin los botonoes en pantalla del mando Xbox One como pega.

      it’s inside the codex folder when you mount the iso, you can select the option “copy content from codex folder” when you are installing the game

    alla fine dopo svariati tentativi sono riuscito a settare il controller in modo che i comandi siano il più simili, se non identici, a quelli della ps4, ho dovuto settare tasti multipli ai tasti del controller e in più ho dovuto personalizzare anche i settaggi dei tasti nel gioco ma alla fine ho ottenuto a parer mio il settaggio migliore possibile.
    se qualcuno sa qual’è il file di configurazione del controller in steam e quello della configurazione del gioco sarò più che lieto di condividerli con chi è riuscito a far funzionare il proprio joypad ma non sta riuscendo a settare i tasti a dovere.
    utilizzo un controller xbox 360 ma credo che la configurazione in big picture sia universale.

    with this settings the character will walk when i move the analog stick just a little bit and it will run when i move it full (i used the same idea used in assassin’s creed origins).
    last i set camera restore for pad click comand.
    this way is much more comfortable and more like the console version

    I followed the instructions to play with a XBOX controller, but my problem is that when I try to launch the game from steam (as a non-steam game), the game launch and close (in half a second)
